Having just seen "In Bruges" and "The Band's Visit" it's clear we have two major new directorial talents in Martin McDonagh and Eran Kolirin.
McDonagh actually has already won an Oscar for his first short feature, and his first full length feature, a tale of two hitmen on the run after a botched job has the black mixture of comedy and violence which was the hallmark of early Coen and Tarantino movies.
Kolirin's tale of an Egyptian Police Orchestra deserted in a dead-end Israeli town is a hilarious comedy riddled with enough sadness and loneliness to conjure thoughts of early Bill Forsyth. They are both coming to screens near you soon, and they are worth checking out.
