It's been a great day for Diablo Cody.
A day which was expected to end with a triumphant appearance tonight at the Walker for a screening of "Juno," was made all the sweeter by news of three Golden Globe nominations for the movie.
Along with a Best Comedy or Musical nomination and a Best Actress nod for Ellen Page in the title role, there was also the best screenplay nomination for Cody herself.
She says she wasn't expecting it.
"There has been a tremendous buzz," she says. "But the Globes are tricky because there is only one category for screenplays, original and adapted are together, so it's such a thick field, I really didn't think I had a chance of being nominated."
Cody admits she is tired after being on what seems like an eternal publicity tour with the film. At one point she asked in all seriousness if there were going to be mean questions because she says there was always a chance she might break down.
However the trademark Diablo Cody wit was much in evidence. At one point she paused to sneeze violently.
"I must be allergic to high-brow radio," she said with a dead-pan expression on her face. And then she smiled.
