Even now people are reading the post I wrote up about the "Eragon" movie last year, and asking 'What about the sequel?'
The film is based on the very popular Christopher Paolini novel, which is the first in a trilogy. Seems natural to expect there might be a sequel to the film given that the second book 'Eldest' has been out for a while, and there's huge interest in the third as yet unpublished book... doesn't it?
Well, no.
Despite having a powerhouse cast including John Malkovich, Jeremy Irons and Robert Carlyle, the film got tepid reviews and fizzled at the box office.
I have been searching the web and talking with a couple of movie biz contacts, and while there is no doubt someone, somewhere, dreaming of the next 'Eragon,' there's no buzz about it.
I asked one gentleman (who shall remain nameless) laughed when I asked about a sequel. "But it is already a sequel" he said, "To 'Star Wars'"
