I enjoyed watching "Milarepa" the Tibetan movie which chronicles the life of a folk hero with a questionable history.
What stopped me dead though was the song at the end.
As the story draws to a close we hear a woman singing. It's an unmistakable voice, that of Ani Choying Drolma, a performer who has visited the Twin Cities a number of times to perform with local musical wizard Steve Tibbets. The last time she was here, I believe, was the opening of the new Walker Art Center building where she performed with Tibbets for an hour.
"Milarepa" is an intriguing film, but I found myself warming to it all the more simply by hearing Choying sing.
