Things worth considering this week:
The Walker Art Center holds its film preview Thursday night. Film Curator Sheryl Mousley and Assistant Curator Dean Otto will lay out plans for the year and show some clips from the films in the schedule. The event was such a success last year that now the Walker's Performing Arts department is doing the same things. The film preview starts at 7.30. (And it's free!)
Also this weekend if you are in Aberdeen South Dakota, you could experience what's being plugged as the state's first ever film festival. The South Dakota Film Festival will run at the Capitol Theater in Aberdeen, and features a sneak preview of "Into the Wild" the Sean Penn adaptation of Jon Krakauer's book about a young man who decides to go and live off the land in the Alaskan wilderness. Much of the film was shot in South Dakota. The schedule is filled with a broad range of intriguing looking shorts and features arranged into six sessions. A VIP ticket is $100, there's a $30 pass which gets you into all the films, and $10 individual session passes are also available.
