This isn't a day for watching movies. Instead, even though I am far away, I have been watching pictures of a bridge I have crossed many times lying in the Mississippi. All around I hear people talking of their horror at what happened.
It is so strange and so remote. It's galling to hear people say this was a bridge that connected Minneapolis and St Paul as was repeated several times this morning on the British CNN feed.
There on screen are the places we know, changed forever. It's a sad and hollow feeling.
