Local producer Melody Gilbert dropped me a line today to mention the sneak preview of "A Hero Denied" tonight at the Oak Street in Minneapolis. It's the first public screening of a rough cut of the documentary about how Roberta Stewart, widow of a US soldier killed in Afghanistan, fought the Veterans Administration to have a Wiccan symbol placed on her husband's gravemarker.
Stewart will be present at the screening tonight. Gilbert says she showed Stewart the cut this morning and predicts Stewart will have plenty of interesting things to say.
Gilbert, who is Executive Producer on the project predicts more screenings in coming months as work progresses on the film.
