The LA Times, reporting from Cannes, says that after years of looking to Hollywood for product film audiences around the world are now demanding and getting locally made films.
Hollywood is of course looking to get in on the act as clearly there is money to be made even as box office reciepts here fluctuate.
My question is: what does this mean for US audiences? Will we get a chance to see these films? It's unlikely that many would get a theatrical release, but wouldn't it be amazing to see the foreign film section at the local DVD Emporium stuffed to overflowing of even more great material?
That is providing of course that it is indeed great material.
