It's just your typical Hollywood summer blockbuster. A doomsday scenario perpetuated by a global conspiracy of governments and corporations threatens the future of the entire planet. Only one man can save us.
Sally has quite liked the film, and thought the review was snarky at best.
I went in search of the full review today and found it was actually the work of Scott Von Doviak of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It was actually a lot more reasoned in full, talking about the unlikely phenomena of Al Gore the film star.
It all just goes to show you should sometimes go beyond the box review.
Speaking of which I have been trying unsuccessfully to find a link to Sunday's Sally Forth comic. (The internet seems to have been a mixed blessing for the comics world and you need to pay for access to all the strips.) This Sunday the Forth family was trying to pick a summer movie for all the family. The choices, as seems to be the case in real life, left a lot to be desired:
"When the Japanese Prime Minister and his wife are threatened with kidnapping, it's up to the Wayans brothers to assume their identities..."
"What if one day the sock puppets said, 'Enough'?"
The parents are left with no options. The kid loves them all of course.
I have had this conversation.
