"Queer Takes" is a short but intriguing-looking series at the Walker Art Center which runs through Saturday. It contains films from around the world examining gay issues. The Walker has managed to get them ahead of the films going into wider distribution.
Tonight is also the Walker's Free Thursday night, and it will be running two programs of "Queer Takes" shorts at 7 and 9pm. The first is titled "Girls Short Shorts" and the second "Boys Short Shorts."
One event which has been going on almost under the radar is the Solstice Film Festival which runs through the weekend here in downtown St Paul. The opening gala screening of Nikki Reed's "Mini's First Time" was last night at the Fitzgerald, and I hear from someone who was there that the crowd was fairly small.
There do appear to be some interesting flicks however and it's worth browsing through the film schedule.
