Sometimes big ideas come from simple little questions like, "wouldn't it be awesome if ... ?" That's how Rob Spence came up with the idea to swap out his prosthetic eye for one with a built-in wireless camera. That, and his love of sci-fi classics like the 6$ Million Dollar Man.
Rob is a documentary film maker based out of Toronto. He lost an eye as a youngster and recently started building himself a new one that records what he sees. I spoke with him about the project and what it's like to film something just by looking at it.
And yes, he totally gets how simultaneously neat and creepy that idea is.

The only thing cooler than this man's camera eyeball is the legless woman from New Zealand who had Peter Jackson's design team build her a prosthetic mermaid tail. And yes, there's a video of her swimming in the sea. Google it.
