You know I'm all for artists making money on their image, it's part of being a celebrity. But I think this may be the most selling out-iest moment in rock history, considering it's a guy who so vehemently decried such behavior.
John Lydon, he of Sex Pistols fame, selling butter.

I've always gotten the impression that Johnny Rotten was up front about punk being a big rock and roll rip-off. There was of course "The Great Rock and Roll Swindle" - a movie where he and fellow band mates confessed to using their infamy and controversy to rake in money without being musically inclined. Then there was the Sex Pistols reunion tour appropriately titled the "Filthy Lucre" tour which they claim was about making money.
In fact, I kind of think there is something truly punk about not even caring about punk and being willing to openly cash in on it when you feel like it. Plus the band never really made that much money in their heyday.
