One of our story tellers from the upcoming Story Slam show sent me a link to project he's been working on. Bill Gurnon has been gathering people's tales on his website The Story Collector. The coolest part is that it's not written stories; it's stories told by real people in their own voices.

Here's how it works:

* You comb through the site and get inspired. The site gives suggestions for topics and themes to start from.

* You call a toll free number and leave your story after the beep. If you mess up, just hang up and try again.

* Soon enough, your story will be uploaded from the answering machine into the Story Library and available for others to click and listen.

Of course, you can stop by and catch a quick story from someone else without having to leave one of your own. It's all totally free. Bill says he's trying to "democratize" the process of story telling and you know what, I think he's on to something. Give it a go folks!

Thanks Bill for creating this marvelous site. It is a privilege to have some of my stories included. Looking forward to placing many more as time permits.

Keep up the good work. Looking forward to hearing your story on the show tomorrow night
