DFL leaders on Midday

Posted at 10:39 AM on April 7, 2008 by Michael Marchio

Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson-Kelliher and Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller will be on Midday at 11:00, click here to listen in.

They'll probably be asked about what they think the governor will do with that bonding bill. As we know, its about $100 million bigger than he wants it to be, so the real question is whether the whole thing gets vetoed or he takes out the line-item pen and removes projects individually. Also, the bonding bill doesn't include a dime for the land on Lake Vermilion that he's already said is a priority for the session. Here's an update on the situation. If the money doesn't come from the bonding bill, it can be paid for through the environmental trust fund, where the state's lottery money goes, but you'd have to sell a heck of a lot of scratch offs to raise the estimated $20 million that U.S. Steel wants for the land.

He's scheduled a press conference for 2:30 p.m., when we'll find out. I'll update you on that this afternoon.
