Political wonks rejoice for a new season of Minnesota Fantasy Legislature is upon us. Minnesota Public Radio is bringing back the Fantasy Legislature for a second year, and we'd like you to join us this session to distinguish yourself in fantasy political primacy.
First, for some introductions. My name is Michael Marchio. I am a graduate of the U of M, and I will be filling Commissioner Emeritus Bob Collins' considerable shoes this season. I'll be tracking the votes, compiling your points and generally shining some light into the dark recesses of the Capitol where all those tabled bills go to die.
We have been toiling away, improving the MFL interface to streamline the waiver system and generally make it easier for you, the managers, to bring your teams to the legislative glory land.
This session should be an interesting one. With DFLer Kevin Dahle's special election win in January to replace outgoing District 25 Sen. Tom Neuville, a Republican, the DFL has reached veto override strength in that Senate. How that shakes out, well, we'll just have to wait and see.
We encourage you to register your teams now. The last day for drafting is Feb. 11 and the session starts the following day on Feb. 12. Keep checking the site, as we'll be posting blog entries all next week. Good luck!
Welcome Commish! Glad to see MPR has homegrown talent from the U.
Thanks to Commish E Bob Collins for all the efforts he put into the 'game' in 2007.
