They don't call it the "silly season" for nothing. A whole bunch of bills got "hijacked" by the Senate yesterday and turned into omnibus bills. It's a necessary, thing, I guess, but this is the time of the session where the average citizen (that's me) is bound to be clueless about what's going on.

For example, HF122 has emerged from the Rules Committee. If you use the House Web site (which rocks, by the way!), you'd think this was our old pal -- the bill banning sale of the American flags that aren't made in Amerca, right? Wrong. It's now the omnibus economic development bill. (It passed the Senate this afternoon, 54-11)

HF1063 used to be a bill about the environment. It's now the omnibus higher education funding bill (which passed the Senate this afternoon, 64-0). I'm guessing the meeting with the gov went pretty well, if stuff is passing 64-0.

HF1078 used to be a bill about accountability standards for hospitals, it's now the omnibus health and human services bill. Or is it a state spending bill? Or transportation? I forget. Let's just say it's not a bill about hospitals anymore.
