Sympathies to a legislator
Posted at 4:01 PM on April 27, 2007 by Bob Collins (1 Comments)
I enjoyed, actually, watching the smoking ban debate on Thursday. I've been particularly impressed this session with several of the rookies. Rep. Steve Gottwalt is one of those who have exhibited a literate style, a sharp wit, and a civil tone. I was confused when I read the House Journal last night because, although he was knee-deep in the amendments fight, he didn't vote in the final tally for the bill.
It turns out he learned during the debate that his mother-in-law had become seriously ill. And we learned this morning that she has died. Our sympathies, of course, to the Gottwalt family.
My condolences go to Rep. Gottwalt and his entire family.
