Legislating on all cylinders

It's been awhile -- weeks, certainly -- since there's been a change in the top of the Gold League standings. The Bemidi Beavers, with manager Mike Simpkins at the helm, has drafted well and dominated the season. His MVP clearly has been Rep. Frank Moe, with Rep. Leon Lillie not far behind. Both are in the top 10 in the power rankings
But this afternoon, Nate Dybvig's Sine Die Sadists took over the top spot and it's not hard to see why. Rep. Jim Abeler has his name on "everything that moves" at the Capitol this session, as one manager put it in the comments section of a post earlier. And Sen. Linda Higgins has been, perhaps, the hottest legislator, putting up 478 points since Nate claimed her off the free agent market a couple of weeks ago.
Still think the weekly waiver draft isn't important? Higgins is hovering just a few spots outside of the top 10 in the power rankings and she and Abeler will make tough competition, especially since the Senate has really picked up the pace lately.
Throw in a Gov. Pawlenty bill signing here and there, and things can change in a hurry..
Errate: There's an error on the published standings for State Muffins. I put a wrong calculation in this week when I added Shelley Madore. She's not credited with any points. She has 87. Pages I publish tomorrow will have the proper totals.
It is still early, and so I am far from confident about my potential for staying on top for long, but thanks for the kind words.
And Mike, I would gladly trade you first place today for a Corner Bar Burger tomorrow.

Nate, how about Senator Higgins for a Corner Bar Burger? Just so you know...I had Senator Higgins selected to be picked off the waiver wire the same week you picked her up. I really have nothing to complain about though as I drafted her on the initial draft and in a moment of "Beaver Fever" dropped her a couple of weeks later. One last thing, are there any more bills this session to change the names of cul-de-sacs or streets that Rep. Abeler will have the opportunity to co-author?

And Team MILVETS is back in Fourth Place! This is with the House Veterans Affairs Division meeting canceled last Friday due to snow. Many Vets bills to be heard in committee tomorrow. Points, and more points . . . .
Yes, more points for Rep. Abeler too, since his name appears on bills even without soliciting him.
