The current unemployment rate for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars is 13.3 percent, well above the national average.
Midmorning looks at why the rate is so high, and what veterans can do to market their skills to civilian employers. Kerri Miller talks to Leo Shane III, a reporter for Stars and Stripes.
Also on the show is Emily King, founder of Military Transitions, a group that works with companies that want to hire and retain veterans.
She is the author of "Field Tested: Recruiting, Managing and Retaining Veterans."
