Why aren't the Vikings interested in Torry Holt? By pursuing T.J. Houshmandzadeh, the team acknowledged their need at WR. Holt is only a year older than Houshmandzadeh and has had a better career. His steady hands and underneath route running would complement Bernard Berrian perfectly.
The most interesting thing about Timberwolves forward Shelden Williams is his wife, WNBA superstar Candace Parker. Parker, who is pregnant and will likely miss part of the 2009 WNBA season, has been at several recent home games.
Dennis Green is back! Sort of. The former Vikings coach has accepted a job coaching the San Francisco franchise in the newly formed United Football League. The four team league begins play in October. Word is that if Michael Vick can't land an NFL job, the UFL will welcome him with open arms. Couldn't you see Vick playing for Green, who has always been enamored with tantalizing, yet troubled talent?
Speaking of the Vikings, why don't they give free agent QB Byron Leftwich a look? He's got far more experience, better numbers and is younger than Sage Rosenfels. I am not saying he's the answer, but he wouldn't cost a draft pick.
After watching the Gopher men's early NCAA tournament exit last week, I can't help wonder: Would they have played defending champion Kansas any tougher than North Dakota State did?
I'll close with a final question: How many games will Joe Mauer play in this year? The over/under is 100.
