The Twins are now 5-8 with one game to go on their epic road trip. All of the losses are by 2 or less runs (4 by 1 run, 4 by 2 runs) and they've held a late lead in several of those contests. But, they are still just 1 game out of first place.
OK, I am not telling you anything you don't know. In fact, I'll cheerfully admit I haven't even watched many of these games very closely. Still however, the Twins are leaving me with a sinking feeling.
This doesn't have the feel of a team that is on it's way to a division title and, even if the White Sox out-choke them, a team that could do much better than a four-game loss in the Divisional Round.
Misc. Nuggets
Justin Morneau's homerun total may be down this year - he "only" has 21 - but he's already hit a career high 40 doubles. In addition, Morneau's compiled a career high 69 walks (against 71 strikeouts) and his .390 OBP would also be a career best.
It looks like the Lynx will miss the playoffs for the 4th straight season. The team is 2 games out of the 4th and final postseason slot with only 5 games to go. Mid-season home losses to Atlanta and Chicago have to haunt the squad.
