I don't know how many hoops fans there are who read this blog, but I thought I'd throw out this question on the eve of the NBA draft. Who do you think the Wolves should take with the 3rd pick?
Let's face it. Interest in this team is probably at an all-time low in this town, and the team needs an infusion of young talent to bring some of the fans back. I myself have become less and less a fan of the NBA over the past few years, but watching Kevin Garnett's run to the championship, and the inspiring team play that ultimately got him his ring, have restored my interest in the game. Clearly, the Wolves have a long way to go to get to that level, but maybe they can take a step in that direction tonight.
So who is it? Should the Wolves take O.J. Mayo with their pick? If Miami passes on Michael Beasley, should they take the player regarded as the most NBA-ready? Or do they go for need, and take Stanford center Brook Lopez, which would allow them to move Al Jefferson to power forward, his natural position? And what about UCLA forward Kevin Love, who Kevin McHale apparently has a big crush on?
More importanly, why do I have this nagging feeling that whoever the Wolves take, it's going to be the wrong guy?
They should ask McHale who he wants and then pick the other guy....seriously though...NOT Brook Lopez.......
Is the nagging feeling is named Pooh Richardson, Felton Spencer, Gerald Glass, Luc Longley, Christian Laettner, Isiah Rider, Donyell Marshall, Wally Szczerbiak or Ndudi Ebi?
Agreed on Lopez....the Wolves need a center, but they can't take him with the 3rd pick...or Love for that matter. The Wolves "braintrust" should just act like they can't hear McHale.
What about the young man from Memphis? Rose right? Has he already been ruled out or is he spoken for by the teams picking ahead of us. I must admit that I've been out of the loop as far as pro hoops go lately, but I really, really like this kid. And if Rose is, for whatever reason, not an option, I'd have to say Beasley is the best option without a doubt. The dude could compete without his left leg for God's sake.
