Miguel, Dontrelle heading to Motown

Posted at 8:31 PM on December 4, 2007 by Chris Dall

This is turning out to be a tough winter for Twins fans. ESPN is reporting that the Detroit Tigers and Florida Marlins have agreed in principle to a deal that would send third baseman Miguel Cabrera and pitcher Dontrelle Willis to the Tigers for six prospects, led by pitcher Andrew Miller.

Wow. Detroit just got a lot better offensively, as Cabrera is one of the top young hitters in the game. And despite a poor 2007 season, Dontrelle Willis is a pitcher who can be dominant at times. If he regains the form he had in 2005, when he won 22 games, then the Tigers starting rotation is about as good as it gets.

Maybe the other teams just got bored of hearing all about Johan and decided they needed to make something else happen.
