Torii's with the Angels
Posted at 7:57 AM on November 22, 2007 by Chris Dall
Well, I guess I was wrong about Torii Hunter heading to Texas. ESPN and the Associated Press are reporting this morning that Hunter has agreed with the Los Angeles Angels on a 5-year, $90 million dollar deal, subject to Hunter passing a physical. The news comes as somewhat of a surprise, since the Angels weren't among the five teams that had reportedly made offers to Hunter, and Torii had been quoted as saying that he was going to take the weekend to think about his decision. But the Angels were certainly looking for an offensive boost after getting swept in the American League Divisional Series by the Red Sox, and apparently they made Torii an offer he couldn't refuse. The Angels have also been a regular playoff contender for the last few years, and that undoubtedly played a role in his decision.
So now the question is, who'll be patrolling center at the Dome in 2008?
