The news today for the local club is that Boof Bonser has been optioned to AAA, and the Twins will fill his spot in the roster and rotation later tonight. Gardenhire apparently wasn't too happy with Boof's inconsistent mix of good and mediocre starts, which may or may not be tied to the inconsistent starting schedule he was on.
The leading candidate for the 5th spot in the rotation is (ack) Kyle Lohse, with Brooklyn Park product Pat Neshek possibly getting the open roster spot in the bullpen. Neshek is 6-2 with a 2.05 ERA, 13 saves, and 83 strikeouts in 57 innings for the AAA club.
