I was deeply saddened by the untimely death of K.P. not for just the obvious reasons but because his trek towards redemption was cut short. Yes, I can reminisce along with a host of fans K.P.'s tremendous joie de vivre that he expressed on the field which transcended sport.
But the true measure of the man would have been his reconciling the demons that seem to have plagued him for a good portion of his adult life (if the reports are to be believed). I had hoped to see K.P. dig deep and confront himself (not an easy task for the very best of us)and to that end utimately find peace and happiness in his life.
But this was not to be and so my heart and prayers go out to him so that he may know that while he may not have gotten the chance to repair himself (not his image) he will be received by the Master with open arms and once again be allowed to patrol the outfield as he had done so magnificently while he was here with us.
I will remember always Kirby Puckett.
