Rafael "First Time, Every Time" Palmeiro has been suspended for 10 days under baseball's steroids policy. He doesn't seem to be appealing the decision, which I guess means we can go ahead and scratch one more big-name hitter from the shortening list of "batters whose careers we trust."
I don't know: on the one hand, artificial enhancements are clearly cheating and grounds for having your entire Hall of Fame career invalidated, or at least heavily asterisked. On the other hand, steroids or no, it takes a pretty good player to reach 3,000 hits and 500 homers. Or at least a willingness to swing the bat, which is something the Twins' current, distinctly non-hall-of-fameish lineup seems to lack.
At any rate, get ready for the next round of "steroids vs. Viagra" jokes to start!
pete rose is rolling in his grave. wait he's not dead yet. at least is playing days were legit. 10 days (not games) is a complete joke! he should be indicted by congress for purgery. he'll get off on a technicality but he should face the wrath of somebody...anybody. it won't be mlb, selig, the players association or by wishy-washy fans.
and really sorry about this it is the best i could do on such short notice.
q: what do steriods & viagra have in common?
a: big issues over a little tissues.
I say get whatever Palmeiro is on and distribute it to the clubhouse on Kirby Puckett Way.
