Why am I still awake?

Posted at 1:16 AM on August 11, 2005 by Josh Lee (2 Comments)

It's 1:03 AM Central Daylight Time, the Twins and Mariners are riding a 3-3 tie into the 14th inning (making up for the brevity of last night's game, I guess), and for some reason, I'm still awake and listening to them on the radio. I'm past caring about who wins, but I still can't quite bring myself to switch the darn thing off. But I figure if there are still some fans at the ballpark shouting "Lewwwwww" (they're in Seattle, so I assume it's a taunting kind of "Lewwwww"), I might as well tough it out along with them.

Here's a thought that might be worth looking up some stats on if I wasn't too tired to bother: Lew's a horrible DH, he may or may not be a decent center fielder (offensively; defensively he seems to be near-Torii-like), but he seems to be a pretty good guy to have at the plate in late (and extra) innings. Tonight he didn't come into the game until the 9th, but has managed to get two hits and a walk so far. And at the rate this game is going, he'll probably have a couple more at-bats before all's said and done.
