Nick Punto, Brent Abernathy and Juan Castro are all banged up, so Luis "Maybe I should just let him play and not try to expect him to be Superman" Rivas is going to go right from the disabled list to playing second, with no rehab time. The other infield options? Luis Rodriguez (rookie), Glenn Williams (rookie), Jason Bartlett (rookie, and currently in AAA), Terry Tiffee (rookie, and currently in AAA) and Michael Cuddyer, who is a) only fielding .927 at third, thus proving that b) he is a recently-converted outfielder.
What a conundrum. What sort of defensive alignment would you pull together in this situation? Would you do something in terms of the upcoming trade deadline?
i would just hope and pray the all-star break isn't too far away and people get healthy. there are zero options. sorry charlie. unless you're the yankees and you can spend some dough-ray-me.
What about trading some bullpen for some infield and/or power? Even though they may blow a game or two, they're still collectively the 2nd best in baseball.
don't get me wrong; i'd be up for a trade. the twinks just aren't a team to pull the trigger very often. sometimes they don't feel the urgency and maybe they should. or they don't think they'll get enough in return for their prospects. if you could get more than a 6 pack of pie's eye for j.c. romero; i would be on it like homerun hitter in the first with radke. imho.
