That's enough of Neifi

If you want a poster child definition for stinks, isn't Neifi Perez your man? Listen, I sympathize with all you Cubs fans, but the Cubs are never going to win ballgames depending on Neifi Perez.

I was surfing through the late games on Dish's Extra Innings package last night and I stumbled across the Cubs-Diamondbacks game. Arizona is up by a run, Brad Lyon trying to save the game. Derek Lee singled to start the inning. There's your tying run.

Todd Hollandsworth, your left fielder with 3 hits already in the game is up. Can't hit-and-run or sacrifice here; you gotta swing away. Todd swings away and flies out deep to Jose Cruz.

Michael Barrett, the 8th guy in the order, is up. Michael Barrett? Now up to now, genius Dusty Baker has only used Jose Macias off the bench.

The bench does not stir. Barrrett, after two pick-off attempts by Lyon, jumps on a pitch and flies out to Cruz. Lee does not move off first.

Now, who comes off the Cub bench with two out and your tying runner STILL at first? It's Neifi, baby! He hasn't had an OBP above .285 since 2001. You know what? I don't think he's getting on base. Neither does Lee. He steals second.

Neifi hits a ball up the middle. Royce Claton makes a nice stop and throws Neifi (who apparently not only can't hit, he can't run anymore either) out at first to end the game.

Neifi Perez? Man, it's gonna be a long year in Chicago.
