Artistic Statement

Since I can remember, music has played an incredible role in the formation of the person I am today. From a young age, I listened to my "little kid tunes" and it made me happy, but it wasn't until my second grade spring choir concert (in which I had my first solo), that I was enthralled with performance. Now, performing is a way of expressing myself, the emotions that a person can portray within a three minute song has never ceased to amaze me. I chose Duke's, "The Bird"; as the abstract interpretation of the piece inspires me to keep moving forward. In this piece, the bird acts as a symbol of stability for the narrative figure, much like performing provides me with a sense of stability.
