President, U.S. Senate, Congress, and the Minnesota House of Representatives are the major races in the campaign of 2008. This is the first presidential election without an incumbent or sitting vice president involved since 1952. Iraq continues to dominate political debate in the U.S., and now that Democrats are in control of Congress, a key will be how far down the ballot the influence of the Iraq war extends.

Election 360: the world outside McCain's town hall meeting

By 6:30 p.m., one half hour before the official start of the event, most attendees were inside and only protesters remained. The protesters began the evening in Rice Park on the south side of Landmark Center and arrived at the active entrance in time only to see a few latecomers.

One woman asked, "Where are all the people?"
