I know that there are those out there who are thinking that the state is overriding the rights of the parents and what they think is best for their child, but there has to be a time when someone with an elevated education steps in and talks some sense into these people. [MPR News: Family lands in court over son's cancer treatment]
Obviously there is something wrong with the education they are giving their son if he doesn't even know how to read at the age of 13! It makes me wonder what else they are filling in his impressionable head with! The cancer that this child has will most likely kill him if he does not have the proper procedures done in a hospital setting. The poor kid is so confused and brainwashed that he doesn't understand that some vitamins and green leafy vegetables are not the answer and will not combat a growing tumor. His parents need to stop thinking of what they want to do and start thinking of what is best for their child and what will save his life! Not to mention this kid ne eds to be educated, becasue let's face it there are 5 year olds who know how to read and probably have a better grasp of what cancer is than he does.
I ultimately believe that the court system did the right thing to order radiation and chemo treatments, it may be infringing on parental rights but there has to be a line drawn between rights and stupidity!

Gas prices, profit, tax windfall, and an unfair burden
I don't understand why gasoline prices are so high. If a barrel of gas is less than $50 a barrel and has been for several months, then why is gas still at or above $2, why not less than $1.00? Isn't it Exxon that is #1 in revenue and profits on the lastest Fortune 500 list?
In my opinion, there is unfair lobbying going on. High gas prices means additional gas tax revenue as well as company profits. It's another burden on the public who is trying to save and spend to get us out of this recession.
