Frequently asked questions
For more information, contact the Member Benefits Team at 800-228-7123 or online.
Q. When I called MPR during the on-air fund drive, I did not
request a thank-you gift. I assumed MPR would use all of my dollars
to keep the broadcasting on the air. You won't automatically send
me a gift, will you?
A. No. If you did not confirm receipt of a gift, then be assured MPR will put your entire contribution
toward programming, aside from the $14.95 that is the fair market
value of your Minnesota Monthly subscription (Minnesota
Monthly is sent to all members who contribute at least $120).
Thanks for your membership support!
Q. Is my MPR contribution tax-deductible?
A. All gifts to Minnesota Public Radio are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. If you receive a thank-you gift and/or Minnesota Monthly magazine for your contribution, MPR will tell you the value of that thank-you gift and whether its value is substantial enough that it must be deducted from your contribution. For further information, please call the Member Benefits Team at 1-800-228-7123.
Q. My MPR renewal is not due for 10 weeks, yet I received a renewal
notice today. Why so early? And, if I send in my renewal at this
time, will I lose the 10 weeks from my current membership year?
A. Renewing early simply ensures you don't miss any issues of Minnesota
Monthly (benefit to $120+ donors). The early renewal notice offers
some flexibility for contributors. Many people prefer to pay their
membership as part of their monthly bills, so the early notice can
easily be incorporated into their household's budget planning. When
you submit payment, your membership benefits will be extended one
year from the end of your current anniversary date.
Q. When can I expect to receive the MPR mug I was promised when
I contributed during MPR's on-air fund drive last month?
A. Thank-you gifts generally arrive six to eight weeks after your
payment has been processed. If it has been more then eight weeks
and you continue to drink from the same chipped and stained mug
you had when you contributed, then we will review your record to
confirm and expedite its delivery, or offer a very good excuse.
Q. My parents will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary
this year, and I want to do something truly special to honor them.
They listen to Minnesota Public Radio all day, every day; how can
I have their day commemorated on MPR's airwaves?
A. Personal on-air messages are a benefit available at the Contributor
Level of $1,000. You may also get a message as a thank-you gift
when you contribute $500. A written message by the contributor is
broadcast two separate times in a given time period on the date
of their choice. It is aired on the News & Information Service,
Classical Music Service or 89.3 The Current whichever is preferred
by the member. If you are interested in becoming a day sponsor,
or if you want to request your message please contact the Member Benefits Team, 800-228-7123.
Q. Does MPR exchange its contributors' names? How do I prevent
this?
A. To assist in building contributions, MPR regularly exchanges
names and addresses of its contributors with other organizations,
who may solicit or make other contact with you by mail. If you do
not want your information shared, please use our contact form or call MPR at 800-228-7123. See our Contributor List Policy for details.
When you support Minnesota Public Radio online, more of your dollars go toward the programming that you love.
