Never
doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed citizens can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

The Next Standard has raised $7.5 million
in seed money for four initiatives that will pave the
way to greater public service programming.
Public Insight Journalism ($2.25 million)
We are pursuing a new and unique industry model that
will allow us to develop daily news and program content
that is more in-depth, accurate, and relevant by tapping
into the knowledge and wisdom held by our audience.
Investing in Music, Arts and Culture ($1.5 million)
Our goal is to be the critical link between the public,
artists and arts organizations, strengthening both our
audience's knowledge of and participation in the arts,
ultimately creating a more vibrant culture for the Twin
Cities community and all citizens of our state.
Archive Digitization and Online Access ($1.25 million)
We plan to undertake the first comprehensive digital
audio archive project in public radio history. It will
permanently catalog and protect 30,000 hours of significant—and
fragile—sound recordings. The result will be to
preserve and make available a vast audio resource for
scholars, journalists and educators.
Major Program Series in The UBS Forum ($1.5 million)
The UBS Forum, located on the fifth floor of MPR's downtown Saint Paul headquarters, will be the premier convening and public broadcasting facility in the country with the ability to engage thousands of people through the radio and on the Internet, reach hundreds of thousands of listeners regionally, and amplify those discussions by connecting with millions of public radio listeners across the United States and around the world.
