The Next Standard is a four-year campaign to raise $56 million by 2006. The majority of these funds — $48.5 million — is being used to expand and update our broadcast and production facility in downtown St. Paul, Minnesota.

Promoting the highest levels of interaction
One of the most important aspects of the new building is that it will allow for a level of staff-to-staff and staff-to-audience interaction that our current situation cannot provide. As such, it is a key means by which we will tap the intellectual capital required to deepen our programming. The expansion also demonstrates our commitment to downtown St. Paul and will have a significant impact on the city revitalization efforts.

Eight new studios and a premier center for debate and discussion
The new building will house new technology, public space, a digital archival facility, multimedia conference rooms, eight new studios, and ten new editing booths. It will also house The UBS Forum, the premier center for debate and discussion on major issues. This broadcast-ready venue will seat 120 and is central to our strategy of strengthening our news and information programming through public insight journalism.
