The Current at SXSW 2010

Next week join the Current as we're sending Jill Riley, Jim McGuinn, and Lindsay Kimball to Austin, Texas for SXSW. We'll bring back the sights and sounds from the world's biggest annual music gathering – with 4 days of non-stop gigging from over 1,500 bands, SXSW is a sonic smorgasboard of new and exciting bands, gathered under the Texas sun.

Watch this space as we'll be giving check-ins on Thursday and Friday (9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 5 p.m.), blog posts, Twitter, and photos. We'll chart the progress of Minnesota's finest like Peter Wolf Crier, Jeremy Messersmith, Romantica, and Solid Gold, and also look for next year's break out acts (for example, it was at LAST year's SXSW we first discovered Mumford and Sons).

We'll also be taping sets to create a special edition of The Current Presents to air on Sunday 3/21, featuring live performances from SXSW by Spoon, Broken Bells, Sharon Jones, The Walkmen, Dr. Dog, and more.

And if you're heading to SXSW, stop by and say hello – we'll be hanging out with our friends from Vita.Mn at their Minnesota music showcase on Thursday from 12 - 6 p.m, and also presenting Sondre Lerche, Dr. Dog, and Codeine Velvet Club at the Austin Convention Center on Thursday from 3 - 6 p.m. in conjunction with SXSW.
