About!

Sandra Bernhard

with Rosanne Cash and Eugene Mirman

Friday, May 20, 2011, 8:00 p.m.
Sandra Bernhard Outspoken, outrageous with a sharp satiric eye on the world, Sandra Bernhard does it all - you've seen her on "Roseanne," "The L Word," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," as well as movies like "The King of Comedy" and "Dare." She's written books, she writes and records songs. (@sandrabernhard) Her one-woman Broadway show, "I'm Still Here ... Damn It!" drove the New York Times to say Bernhard "is a living, breathing bonfire." She's in Comedy Central's top 100 greatest standups of all time, and, she'll be on stage with her fellow multi-talented funny and smart friend Rosanne Cash.

Rosanne Cash

Rosanne Cash is a Grammy award-winning songwriter and author; (@rosannecash) she's likely no stranger to your ears. Daughter of country music singer Johnny Cash, Rosanne's most recent album is The List - her first cover album. The title comes from the list of 100 essential country songs her father told her to learn. Her latest book is the memoir "Composed."

Eugene Mirman

Eugene Mirman will join by phone. A friend of Sandra and Rosanne's, Eugene(@EugeneMirman) was named by Paste Magazine as one of the 10 best comedians of the past decade. He's been in Flight of the Conchords, The Colbert Report and is the voice of Gene in FOX's new animated comedy Bob's Burgers. His latest comedy album is God Is a Twelve-Year-Old Boy with Asperger's, and he's also author of The Will to Whatevs: A Guide to Modern Life, which earned the following blurb from Patton Oswalt: "I laughed out loud reading this. I was reading it in public. Three cute girls at a nearby table laughed at me. I swear one of them mouthed the words, 'fat loser' to her friends. I now hate Eugene Mirman." You're going to love him.

Bonus: Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett - the Box Dwellers! For ten years Kevin Murphy (@kwmurphy) co-wrote and directed the Peabody Award-winning series Mystery Science Theater 3000, and starred as the plucky red robot Tom Servo. Bill Corbett (@billcorbett) also wrote and performed on the show as well, providing the voice of the robot Crow (v.2.0) and playing various other strange characters -- including the all-powerful but clueless alien The Observer (a.k.a. "Brain Guy"). They both are part of the RiffTrax team that makes MP3 tracks you can play in-sync with your favorite movies. We've asked them to come and riff on Wits™. They'll bet in a box seat at the Fitz, talking about the show and what people are saying on Twitter. Like our own, modern-day Statler and Waldorf.
