Justin Townes Earle was in the house!

We were lucky enough to be joined by Justin Townes Earle last Monday, prior to his sold-out show at the Varsity Theatre in Minneapolis. JTE was in good spirits early on a Monday! We talked about winning song of the year at the Americana Awards, his songwriting style, Levon Helm, The Staple Singers & his fine new album, "Nothing's Gonna Change the Way You Feel bout Me Now."

United States of Americana featuring Justin Townes Earle and Lee Hazlewood

For this episode I featured a couple tracks from Justin Townes Earle. He is performing tomorrow night at The Varsity in Minneapolis. I am doing a session with JTE on Monday and will play it back next Sunday on the USofA.

I also featured a few tunes from Lee Hazlewood. The guy behind "These Boots Are Made For Walkin," Nanci Sintra's signature 60's hit. He also worked with Gram Parsons and the International Submarine Band in the mid 1960s. Gram Parsons's departure from the band and decision to become part of The Byrds created legal problems with Hazlewood. The new collection on the Light In the Attic label is called The LHI Years: Singles, Nudes, And Backsides (1968-1971.)
