This week on State of the Arts we figure out how to pick movies that wont corrupt our kids, and we check in with the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in the wake of Director Evan Maurer's resignation. Plus we talk to a couple of young photographers who captured girl culture on film, and we take a look at the new photography exhibit "Visions From America" now up at the Rochester Art Center.
Movies and Kids
What movies are appropriate for your kids? Is it enough to just follow the rating on the box? We talk with Jay Horan, local film producer and adjunct film professor at the Minneapolis Community Technical College, and with Lori Pearson, lead critic for Kids-In-Mind.com, a website devoted to helping parents make informed choices for their children.

Girls On Film
The Minnesota Center for Photography is currently running two exhibits that take viewers inside the world of women and girls. Lauren Greenfield's "Girl Culture" shows a spectrum of femininity from little girls to showgirls. Those photos, which include a series of images shot in the Twin Cities suburb of Edina, have been made into a coffee-table book.
The images prompted a photographic response from a group of teenage girls in Minneapolis who each did mentorship programs with the Center for Photography. Their exhibit, called "Girl Vision: A Response" is on display alongside Greenfield's images. Dominic Papatola talks to two of the photographers, Sarah Lawrence and Janelle Thompson.
