State of the Arts for March 19, 2004
This week in the Arts, The Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus presents the world premiere commission "Metamorphosis". We chat with the playwright of the Children's Theatre Company's new production "Snapshot Silhouette". Plus, we find out what the Walker is up to since they have closed their doors for remodeling.
Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus
The TCGC will be performing the new commission "Metamorphosis" this weekend, which is part of the "Our Legacy In Song" program. The libretto is based on interviews with more than 80 of the men of the Chorus. The performance will add a visual component with the help and collaboration of the James Sewell Ballet. Artistic Director, Dr. Stan Hill, stops in studio to discuss their new work.
The Children's Theatre Company
The Children's Theatre Company's second winter production will be the world premiere of "Snapshot Silhouette". The play focuses on the struggle between the African-American and Somali communities in the Twin Cities through the eyes of two girls. Playwright Kia Corthron joins us.

Walker Without Walls
Closing its doors for remodeling won't stop the Walker from producing programs. The Walker brings art to the streets with "Street-Smart Art: Five Artists to Create Billboards", which has been introduced with "Imagine Peace In the Streets", an installation by Yoko Ono. Minnesota Public Radio's Chris Roberts reports.
Dr. Bill Banfield
Composer and author Bill Banfield says that grownups shouldn't tune out pop music. There are messages in the songs for all ages.
