Koch won election to the state Senate in a special election to fill the seat vacated by Rep. Mark Ourada on Nov. 22, 2005. She garnered 51 percent of the vote in a three-way race. Koch is a former Russian linguist for the U.S. Air Force and the National Security Agency. She works for her family's utility business in Buffalo.
