Senate approval
February 3, 2011 (SF60)

The Senate passed the bill on a party-line vote of 37-27.

The bill has to be reconciled with one passed by the House last week, which calls for deeper cuts. The two Republican-led chambers must negotiate a common plan before the bill is sent to Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton for action.

House Ways and Means approval
January 24, 2011 (HF130)

Sponsor Rep. Mary Liz Holberg argued this bill would give lawmakers a head start on erasing a projected $6.2 billion budget deficit in the 2012-13 fiscal biennium. DFLers criticized the bill as being a piecemeal budget solution, and said state agencies and the public have not had adequate time to weigh in on it. They also argued it would hurt college students and taxpayers. (Session Daily)
