Six Protected Sea Lions Found Dead Along River

from National Public Radio
May 7, 2008

Over the weekend, six sea lions were found dead along the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. The sea lions feed on the spring run of chinook salmon, much to the annoyance of fisherman, so the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife had set traps to catch and remove the sea lions.

Agency spokesman Rick Hargrave talks with Melissa Block about the investigation into the animals' deaths.
