At West Point, the Meaning of 'Honor' and 'Riot'

A West Point inspection held after a fire drill has incensed the school's cadets, leading to a demonstration and accusations that administrators violated the academy's honor code.

Some 2,000 cadets, angry that they were erroneously told there would be no inspection -- and no search for drugs -- after the drill, threw garbage, fireworks and other burning objects from their windows while shouting obscenities last week.

The incident report called it a riot, but cadets and the school say the word "riot" is an exaggeration. Robert Siegel talks with Greg Bruno, West Point reporter at the Times Herald-Record of Orange County, N.Y.
