Covering the Chernobyl Crisis

At 1:23 in the morning of April 26, 1986, there was a disastrous chain reaction in the core of Chernobyl reactor number four. NPR's Melissa Block talks with Serge Schmemann of the International Herald Tribune.

Schmemann was a New York Times reporter in Moscow 20 years ago when the accident occurred.
