Verizon to Unveil Its Version of the iPhone

from National Public Radio
October 3, 2007

Verizon Wireless is unveiling a new cell phone that may look familiar. The LG Voyager has a large touch screen, a web browser, and direct access to Verizon's online music store. Sounds a lot like Apple's iPhone, which may be setting a new industry standard. Now phones have to be extra cool, and get a lot of hype before they hit the market. So Verizon is mimicking Apple's technique of showing off the device before it's even available. It says the phone, and three other new ones, will be in stores in time for holiday sales. And it promises its phone will trump the iPhone with faster wireless Web access.
