U.S. Military Surge Faces Challenges in Sadr City

The biggest challenge to the U.S. 82nd Airborne Division deployed in northeast Baghdad is radical Shiite cleric Muktada al-Sadr and his Mehdi Army. U.S. commanders say progress is complicated by divisions within Sadr's movement. But secret talks with Sadr aides are taking place despite the cleric's public vow never to meet with Iraq's occupiers.
