Week in Politics: Obama Speech To Muslim World

from National Public Radio
June 5, 2009

Political commentators E.J. Dionne of The Washington Post and David Brooks of The New York Times say President Obama's much-anticipated speech to the Muslim world Thursday was realism cloaked in idealism.

Brooks says Obama's speech contained a "facade of idealism, but at the core (it was) a very realist, cautious and, in some ways, a Middle East policy that pulls back American dreams and ambitions."

Dionne says Obama "speaks as an idealist but has the mind of a realist."
