One of the most widely cited books of 2005 has to be Thomas Friedman's "The World is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-first Century." In it, Friedman argues that information technology has leveled the global economic playfield, allowing people from Bemidji to Bangalore to compete on a more or less even footing.
